Now that you have them, let’s ensure that you get them stored properly and that you know how to thaw them for complete satisfaction.

*A little note to end – sometimes our treats will stick to the packaging just a little bit when you first get them – don’t worry, they’re okay! It’s just a side effect of shipping, no harm done. If you want one right away, just set the box on the counter for a bit (up to an hour will be alright) and they’ll come right out. Otherwise, they’ll be right as rain after a night in the freezer. We hope you enjoy your fresh, delicious, amazingly low-fat sweet treats!
Always store your Holey Donuts in the freezer
Since your donuts have arrived frozen, it is important to keep them frozen until you are ready to enjoy them.
Remove the boxes from the custom designed Styrofoam shipping cooler and place them in your freezer. The box will keep your donuts safe and sound until you are ready to thaw them.
Some customers choose to put each donut in its own plastic bag for grab-and-go convenience.
Either way, box or bag, always store your Holey Donuts in the freezer.
To zap or thaw? That is the question!
Decisions, decisions… can I wait long enough to thaw my donut or can I just zap it in the microwave? If you simply must zap it, be aware that you must not use full power. Why? Well, have you ever zapped a piece of bread and let it go a couple of seconds too long? It gets rock hard! Nobody wants a rock hard donut!
If you just can’t turn the power down, the best choice is thaw at room temperature. You decide:
- To zap a delicious Holey Donut in the microwave use the defrost cycle (between 30% and 50% power):
- Place a delicious frozen Holey donut in a container that can be covered (this allows for moisture retention and even heating so you don’t end up with a donut shaped rock!)
I like to use two paper bowls – one to hold the donut and one to put on top (upside down) as a lid.
- Place the covered container in the microwave and set the oven on the defrost cycle.
If you can set it lower – that’s even better!
- Microwave for 10 – 25 seconds and then check the donut with a gentle squeeze to see if it is getting warm.
Continue at 5-second intervals until the donut is barely warm.
- Remove from oven and let it rest on the counter for 5-minutes.
- Take the lid off and get ready for the best donut you have ever tasted WITH NO GUILT!

- Place a delicious frozen Holey donut in a container that is covered (this protects your precious donut and prevents the loss of moisture while it thaws.)
- Allow donut to thaw at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
- Take the lid off and get ready for the best donut you have ever tasted WITH NO GUILT!
- Definitely worth the wait!!!
- The Communter Thaw Method:
- Place a delicious frozen Holey Donut in a zip top bag (icing side up).
- Seal the bag.
- Travel to work.
- When your precious donut reaches room temperature, open the bag and enjoy the best donut you have ever tasted with NO GUILT!
