FAQ
"The low-fat doughnut is the Holy Grail of the food industry. Food companies have been able to take most of the fat out of everything from cheese to Twinkies, but no one has succeeded in designing a marketable doughnut that dips below the federal low-fat threshold of three grams per serving. Doughnuts typically range from eight grams of fat for a glazed French cruller to more than double that for a cake-like doughnut."
Holey Donuts!® frosted ring donuts were lab tested at an astonishing two point eight (2.8) grams of total fat per donut.. Now you know why we have been the darling of the celebrity community for so long and finally the secret is out for everyone to enjoy!
Q. What is the best way to serve and eat the donuts once they arrive? A. We want you to love our donuts as much as we do. Please follow our suggestions so that you have the best possible Holey Donuts!® experience. Place in freezer upon arrival and keep frozen. Do not refrigerate or leave donuts exposed to open air for long periods of time. Our donuts are best served slightly warm and moist.
*Microwave instructions: Just one? 15-30 seconds on plate Whole box? 60-90 seconds in box with lid closed Caution: filling may be hot. All microwaves are different so your cook time may vary. *If you prefer not to use a microwave, you may thaw our donuts in the box with the lid closed or in any covered container until they are soft and moist.
Q. I see other donuts advertised as Trans Fat Free. What makes Holey Donuts!® different? A. There is a huge difference between Low Fat and only being Trans Fat free. Many donut companies are jumping on the trans fat free bandwagon but those donuts are still deep fried and loaded with fat and calories. Trans Fat free only means the donuts don't contain harmful trans fats, which is good but that's only half the story. Only Holey Donuts!® has a unique cooking process that avoids deep frying altogether, creating a truly "low fat" donut and we have always had zero Trans Fats even before it was so chic.
Q. Does Holey Donuts! use artificial sweeteners? A. No, we do not use any artificial sweeteners or fat substitutes like Olestra. As such, our donuts are healthy and safe whether you are an expectant mother or just concerned about what is in the foods you enjoy.
Q. Are your Donuts "Low Carb"?
A. Our donuts have carbs just like any ordinary donut. The goal at Holey Donuts!® was not to make a diet donut, but to make a better donut. As donut lovers ourselves, we always hated that we had to limit our enjoyment of donuts because they were so fattening. We set out to cook our donuts differently and as a natural side effect they happened to have between 3 and 4 grams of fat, whereas the average donut (even those that are trans fat free) can have as much as 25 grams of fat per donut. Our donuts are included in some of the country’s largest and most successful weight loss/food delivery programs across America.
Q. Why does it cost so much to ship your donuts? A. Our donuts must be shipped frozen due to a lack of hydrogenated vegetable shortening, which is the harmful ingredient in other donuts that keeps them "fresh" for days or months. We prepare your donuts fresh and by hand, then freeze them to lock in the freshness. Your donuts are carefully hand packed in a special cooler box with dry ice and shipped via FedEx all over the country. All of this care and special packaging creates a heavy package that is costly to ship via express services.
Shipping Costs- The biggest issue that many of you will write us about, I am sure is shipping costs to some of the farthest west states where we must use express 2 day shipping. Let me touch on this for a second. As our volume has increased so much, our shipper has provided us a very generous discount and we pass this along to you. As you know it is costly to send a large package of frozen food across the country. Yes 18 donuts which is our 3 box minimum is considered to be large by weight in its Styrofoam insulated cooler, and packed with dry ice it does have substantial weight when it leaves our facility. If you were to look at the base rate for this its a mind boggling $54.47 just for shipping yet we charge you only $38 - $40 for this. We do our best to keep these costs down and are always negotiating with our supplies for a better deal for you, our fans and loyal customers. Let me take this one step further.
Just yesterday I "googled" a similar product here on the east coast. It was mail order ice cream, shipped in a similar way. A $45 assortment of ice cream shipped from NY to Menlo Park, California totaled $177 when shipping was added! The shipping cost was more than double the product cost alone!
